I am Fresh.

Most of us love the smell of a roasted or a grilled chicken in our kitchen or backyard. We want to immediately grab it and take a big bite of this mouth watering dish and share this with our family members or friends. As we all know, chicken is considered to be among the top meats eaten by different people all around the world. And we can prepare lot of delectable dishes for our family and friends with chicken as our main ingredient.

One major factor that can affect the taste of your dishes is the freshness of the chicken itself. It is healthy to eat when the chicken is fresh and it will definitely boost its taste when cooked. Therefore, it is important to check the freshness of the chicken or the poultry before you purchase it.

There are many ways to check if the chicken we buy is fresh or not. The very first is to check the appearance of the meat. The chicken meat should look smooth, clean and unblemished. It should also be plump or fleshy. It is a nice indication that it is in a good condition before it was dressed. Fresh chicken is pink in color and neither gray nor pale.

Try not to buy packaged chicken that has ice formation because it might have been stocked in a fridge for several days and is more dead than dead. The chicken should also be bruise free.

Next thing to do is to smell the chicken. It should not have a foul and soiled odor and if there is, then it is no longer fresh and will definitely not be healthy to eat.

Chicken can be bought live, dressed or ready to cook. Live chicken is surely fresh since you buy it directly from the raiser. Never buy a live chicken that looks ill for it might carry bacteria and contaminants that will be unsafe for us.

If you want to buy dressed chickens, look for a credible and clean supermarket. Make sure these supermarkets use refrigerated meat display cases for their chicken and all other meat products. Refrigerated meat display cases ensure the coolness and freshness of the products inside it letting no bacteria or contaminants and even heat can pass through it. This way, you can guarantee the freshness and cleanliness of the meats you buy.

Don't Try This At Home

Most people think that air conditioner servicing is something that might not be necessary or simply an additional item that may set you back by a few thousands without even actually needing it. This way of thinking then leads them to fix t
heir air conditioner while having no basic knowledge on how to do it.

One of the things you need to note is that your air conditioning unit is an appliance with a mechanical system and moving parts. Just like any other system or appliances in your house, it can thus break down over time. What distinguishes an ordinary layman and a professional is that when the latter comes in, one of the first things that he does is to check all malfunctioning parts and replace those that aren’t in a good condition should the need arise. His keen sense driven by his knowledge and discipline are vital tools that can empower him to go direct to the assessment and do the job as fast and efficiently as he could.

Another reason why you need an air conditioning services is the fact that preventive maintenance reduces the risk of sudden expensive bills. If you choose to ignore a minor problem on your air conditioner, it may lead to a serious breakdown of your unit that can cost you a lot of money. Fixing serious errors on air conditioning units may lead you to buy a new one for purpose of expediency, and that is expensive.

Another thing that needs to be mentioned is that a good air conditioning repair is going to save you A LOT of money on a monthly basis. This kind of approach is actually going to reduce the cost of your monthly electric bill. This is only because your system is and will be operating properly. The amount of operation required of your air conditioning unit to effectively cool down your home is reduced and that will lead to your home being cooled without as much of need for electricity.

This might seem like something you can do on your own but you definitely require a licensed professional who has a better and deeper understanding of your system. This is a professional who knows that repairs go beyond cleaning air ducts or changing the filters. In addition to that, they will be able to test the coolant levels and handle some of the basics that you can encounter in the process as well.

On this process, you will have to spend time finding the right person for the job; anyone can do it but is everyone qualified? For this, you have to take a few moments to do a bit of researching on the different companies in your area that provides this kind of services then choose that one company that you can trust to handle your air conditioning servicing.

Air Conditioner Maintenance 101: What Can You Do On Your Own?

Your air conditioner system is a great luxury, but it can also be a great expense when something goes wrong. The repair bill can be quite high, especially in an emergency situation when you need to call in the technician at an odd hour or on the weekend. You cannot give up the luxury of air conditioning, so your only option is to limit what you spend on air con services. How do you do that? There are a few options:

-  Be religious with maintenance duties so your air conditioner needs fewer repairs.
-  Hire air con services to perform yearly check-ups on your system, replacing parts as needed so major breakdowns are avoided.
-  Use your air conditioner with care.

If you follow these three basic steps, you can cut down on expenses paid out to air con services. The biggest key is learning how to maintain your air conditioner, and then becoming religious about those maintenance duties.

Changing the Filter

This is the absolute least you can do for your air conditioning system. The air conditioner must push air through the filter in order to work properly. When it is dirty, the system has to work very hard to get the air through. This places a strain on the system and can affect how long it remains functional in your home. It also affects how much cool air is pumped into your home and how much energy the system uses during operation.

Besides losing money when the system goes out from being run on dirty filters, you will have high electricity bills when operating on dirty filters. It simply takes more energy to force air through a dirty filter. Getting particles of dirt and debris in your air from the dirty filter is another issue.

Most filters need to be changed once a month, but there are some designed to last up to six months.

Outdoor Clean Up

The area around your outside air conditioning unit must be kept clear at all times. Notice that there are vents around the sides of the air conditioner. Those vents need to remain clear and unblocked, or the air conditioning system can be affected negatively.

If you have plants growing around the air conditioner, make sure there is enough space between the plants and the air conditioner so the vents can properly release and draw in air. Do not let these plants overgrow or they will negatively affect your air conditioner. Anything else that could block the vents should be moved as well.

Thermostat Watch

Keep an eye on your thermostat as well, since many people do no notice right away when it stops functioning properly. If it malfunctions, your home will not be kept at the right temperature and your air conditioner could turn on more or less frequently than it should. If you notice irregular temperatures inside your home or the temperature doesn't seem to match what the thermometer says, it might be time to call for air con services.
These simple maintenance tasks will help you cut down on the air con services bill...but only if you remain vigilant in your care!

The Key to Selling Candy is Curved Glass Candy Display Cases

Everyone loves a delicious piece of candy and it would seem as though it would sell out of a cardboard box as well as out of glass display cabinets. The truth is that presentation is an essential part of selling candy, something that every successful candy shop owner knows well. Curved glass candy display cases create just the look that a shop needs to give their usual candy sales a little bit of a boost.

At first thought, it may seem as though the shape of the glass in display cabinets would not make a big difference, but it certainly does. The curved shape is more fun and inviting than a straight cabinet that could just as easily be selling meat and cheese. Curved glass candy display cases will remind shoppers of a looking glass and tempt them to peer in at the goodies behind it.

The curved shape also means that there is more space behind the glass to store tons of delicious treats. The curved glass candy display cases are available at heights of forty eight, fifty nine and seventy seven inches. This means that any candy shop can take advantage of these excellent display cabinets regardless of how much space they have available.

Curved glass candy display cases include many important features that would be essential in any glass display. They include a top light and shield as well as sturdy glass shelves and sliding doors. Shop owners can also choose from a brass or black finish so that their show cases match the other fixtures in their shop.

The most important feature, however, of these glass display cabinets is that they are climate controlled. This makes them perfect for heat sensitive specialty candies such as chocolates or caramels. No matter how prone a candy is to melting, this case will help it look cool and fresh, even on the hottest days of the summer.

In order for a candy shop to be successful, it must have display cabinets that catch the eye and draw customers in. Curved glass candy display cases create a fun and inviting look that will definitely spark interest about what treats might be inside of them. They have many important features and come in a variety of sizes to accommodate any size candy store. Most importantly, they are climate controlled to protect even the most sensitive candies from melting in the heat.

Top Five Ways to Save on Air Conditioning Costs

There's no doubt about it: air conditioning is expensive. Paying to keep your home environment cool all summer can take major chunks out of your bank account, but there are ways that you can alleviate this problem by using your energy more efficiently. Energy-efficient air conditioning isn't just about buying a whole new system; it is also about learning to use the system that you have efficiently.

1. Set the Thermostat High

It may seem uncomfortable to walk into a house that is only a few degrees cooler than the outside world, but running your air conditioner to shreds by setting your thermostat at seventy degrees all summer is ridiculous. Then you just end up needing to put on long sleeves and pull out blankets when you're in the house, as your light, short summer clothes are uncomfortable then. Instead of having a freezing home, simply set your thermostat high and leave it up higher when no one is home during the day.

2. Use a Dehumidifier

Most people know that dry heat is way easier to endure than humid heat, which is why many people in sunny, dry Arizona will walk around in the summer quite comfortable in long sleeves while people in Florida take off all the clothes they decently can, even when it's ten degrees cooler than Phoenix. If you want to avoid running your air conditioner simply to pull humidity out of the air, get a couple of dehumidifiers for your home, which can seriously help the problem.

3. Pull out Hot Air

Trying to cool your home while firing up the stove and the oven can be a major annoyance. Using an exhaust fan can help this problem, but if you don't have one of these over your stove, you can help cool your kitchen simply by setting up a fan on the floor. In conjunction with your air conditioner, this will help your kitchen stay comfortable even as you slave away.

4. Shade When It's Needed

You may already be aware that pulling the curtains over your south-facing windows on those hot summer days can make your home more comfortable by several degrees, but did you know that shading your air-conditioning unit can help it run more efficiently? If you get to choose where to put your A/C unit, you should place it on the shady north side of your home. If not, plant trees or tall grass around the unit, which can help it stay cooler, working more efficiently. Besides this, the plants will shade your home, keeping it naturally cooler, and hide the air conditioning unit from sight.

5. Buy an Energy-Efficient Unit

If you're really struggling to keep up with the electricity bills during the summer, it may be that you need a new air conditioning unit. Energy-efficient air conditioning when used in conjunction with all these other energy-saving ideas could help you cool your home more efficiently, and buying a new unit could very well save you hundreds of dollars a year.

Is It Time to Upgrade or Replace Your Central Air Conditioning?

Hot weather got you thinking of buying a new air conditioner? Is your current air conditioning system not cutting it anymore? If you have central air conditioning, it may be time for an upgrade, or to address some problems with your ventilation system.

Here's how to tell:

Your current fan may be ineffective.

If your air conditioner is more than 10 years old, it is likely working ineffectively and inefficiently, and should be replaced with a more energy-efficient model. Older air conditioners typically mean higher energy bills.

If your air conditioner needs frequent repairs it may not be properly suited for your home. You need a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) specialist to assess your current system.

If your cooling bills continue to rise, your system may be working inefficiently. Some of the cost of a new air conditioning system will be offset by lower energy bills.

If some of the rooms in your home are either too hot or too cold, it could be your air conditioning equipment malfunctioning or functioning inefficiently, or it could be a result of problems with your ducts or inadequate insulation.

If you have problems with humidity, your air conditioning equipment may be defective or otherwise performing inadequately or you may have leaky ductwork, which can be corrected by a qualified HVAC contractor.

If there is a lot of noise coming from your air conditioning unit, there may be a problem with its indoor coil, or your duct system may be too small. For any of these scenarios, contact a local HVAC specialist for an assessment and recommendations.

For any of these scenarios, contact a local HVAC specialist for an assessment and recommendations.

A bigger system is not always better

The most important factor when purchasing a central air conditioning system is that it's the appropriate size. Bigger is not necessarily better. If your system is too big, it won't be as effective at dehumidifying, which will make your home feel hotter. Also, because oversized systems cycle on and off more frequently than they should, they tend to break down more often, cost more to maintain and wear out faster.

An air conditioning system that's too small won't be able to cool your house adequately. It will be overworked, use excessive electricity, run loudly and be prone to premature failure. It may even freeze over on the warmest days.

Get a professional to assess your system requirements

A professional installer is trained to consider various factors that determine the right size of air conditioning equipment to meet the specific needs of your home - beyond square footage. Factors such as the age of the house, its size, how many stories it has, how well it's insulated, the number and quality of windows, and even local energy rates. They should use industry-standard "Manual J" and "Manual S" sizing calculations, however their years of experience can be used modify the results. They may take into account other factors such as the shade effect of trees or the positioning of the windows on the house, to further inform their recommendations. For this reason it is best to get more than one opinion.

Once you know the proper size of air conditioning unit required for your home, you can compare different models for energy efficiency, price, warranties offered, quiet operation, etc. To compare energy efficiency, each system is given a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating, or SEER (look for the yellow Energy Guide tag attached to each appliance).

Go for SEER 13 or above

To keep it simple, the higher the SEER value, the more energy-efficient is the system. Right now, a SEER of 10 is the lowest rating of air conditioner allowed to be sold by law. However, on January 26, 2006, the law will change requiring a minimum mandatory SEER rating of 13. So for now you are still able to purchase SEER 10, 11 and 12 air conditioners, but it is a good idea to buy at least SEER 13. Aside from its better energy efficiency (i.e. lower cooling bills) and less damage to the environment, further down the road you won't have the difficulty and increased expense of trying to find parts for an outdated system.

Energy Star means energy-efficient

To ensure that you are getting a system with exceptional energy efficiency, buy a unit with an Energy Star label affixed. Energy Star is a program developed jointly by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy to promote the use of appliances that reduce energy consumption and have less negative impact on the environment. According to the EPA, an air conditioner that qualifies for Energy Star, which is properly sized and installed, with a properly sealed duct system, will save you 20 percent in energy costs compared to other new, conventional systems.

Coolaire Consolidated’s Daikin systems offer the kinds of innovative and unique product features that deliver the optimum in air conditioned comfort and control. Various sites can range in size from a few hundred to several thousands of square feet. That’s why we offer a range of systems with advanced features to meet practically any challenge: our flexible, reliable, and energy-efficient air conditioning systems deliver Absolute Comfort to nearly any building, making it the ideal solution. http://www.coolaireconsolidated.com

Freezer - Chest or Upright - Why Have One?

I originally thought that a separate freezer in addition to the freezer in my refrigerator was overkill, but I was quickly converted. When I bought an ice cream shop I "inherited" a chest freezer which I needed to store additional ice cream during the busy months. Whilst most refrigerators have freezers, to make real $$$$ savings I think you do need an additional freezer, the size determined by the size of your family. And the thing is freezers are relatively cheap.

I initially started putting the odd item aside when I noticed meat was on special at our local supermarket. Over time I started taking more notice as to when different cuts of meat that I liked were on special. I would purchase 4-5 lb of meat, break it into meal size portions for the family, and stick them in the freezer. I put the type and cut of meat and date of purchase on each pack with a permanent marker to ensure that the meat was used in the order purchased.

As time went on I became curious as to the amount of money I was spending on meat, the quality of meat I was purchasing and if I was actually saving any money. After collecting data for 12 months I came to the following conclusions:

I was saving large amounts of $$$ annually. Now I never purchase meat unless it is on special. Every week supermarkets have some meat on special and I just wait until they have the meat I prefer.

I'm eating better quality meat compared to what I was eating prior to having the freezer. I don't buy cheaper cuts of meat now only the better cuts. I also buy ravioli, tortellini etc when on special and freeze into meal size portions.

I'm eating healthier meals. I now take that night's meal out of the freezer in the morning prior to going to work. If I forget I just defrost in the microwave. I find I am now planning meals in advance, and so taking away the fast food option that I would previously rely on.

In our freezer we have a selection of four different meats - chicken thigh fillets, rump or scotch fillet steak, pork and lamb. We also have some sausages, fish and always have some bacon. Any odd pieces of meat we have which don't make a complete meal are just put aside and eventually make up a mixed grill. If mince is on special I'll make up a big batch of Bolognese or chili sauce and have meals available for when I don't feel like cooking. I also freeze bread and bread rolls until required.
Over time we've tried so many different things in our freezer. Basically you can freeze nearly all vegetables, although they don't have as long a frozen life as meat. Check out the paperwork that came with the freezer to find out how long each item may be frozen before it spoils. Having said that I haven't had to throw anything away due to spoilage.

What I would suggest is get into the habit of looking at the weekly specials brochure your local supermarket distributes and buy meat and other things you like to eat when they're on special - every week they have some meat etc on special. You'll find that, if you buy 4-5 lbs of your favorite meat when it's on special, you will save lots of money in the long-term.

You can also freeze all sorts of cakes, casseroles and soups.

Give it a go, you will be surprised.

Conserve Energy with Commercial Refrigerators

There are hundreds of options available in commercial refrigeration, from drawer refrigerators to wine coolers, stainless steel finishes to glass doors, and in a range of interior volumes. However, the main selling feature of commercial refrigerators is their increased efficiency in energy use. All refrigerators must remain plugged in and turned on 24 hours a day. The amount of energy this costs a business or a home is substantial! But without a properly functioning refrigerator, fresh foods can spoil and will become unsafe for consumption. This is no more acceptable in a home than it is in a restaurant or convenience store. Refrigerators are meant to store food at appropriate temperatures to avoid bacterial growth and spoilage, and that means that refrigerators must stay on all of the time.

So refrigerators can use quite a bit of energy to produce the constant hum of cooling in the kitchen. Fortunately, they provide personal and business consumers with lower-energy choices. In even better news for those searching for a new one opting for energy efficient models can be done while continuing to meet other kitchen requirements! Commercial refrigerators come in a range of sizes and finishes, and each type has its own benefits for the user. Drawer refrigerators can reduce back strain with spring-loaded compartments that slide out from under the counter. They are ideal choices for additional refrigeration nearby a stove and for kitchen designers who hope to reduce the visual impact a solid upright refrigerator can impose.

Upright full-size refrigerators are great for commercial or home use as well though. Match a freezer less full-size refrigerator with a full-size all freezer to create an impressive temperature-controlled pantry. Full-size refrigerators with glass fronts are perfect for beverage merchandising in retail locations. Compact commercial refrigerators reduce energy use even when the volume of food or beverages to be stored is low.

Finally, wine coolers and wine refrigerators come in commercial models as well for professional and consistent wine storage. All of these sizes and types are available in black, white, stainless, and customizable finishes to match other appliances or existing décor. While their major draw for consumers is their energy efficiency, choosing a commercial refrigerator is no compromise for those who also want specific features, sizes, or finishes.
