Uses of Refrigerated Van
Refrigerated vans are used by all sectors of the food industry; from the large wholesaler to the independent village butcher.
Recent years have seen a significant increase in the demand for refrigerated vehicles from those sectors of the food industry. This is due in part to the stringent legal requirements introduced by the government concerning food distribution. This is also due to local high street food shops, needing to diversify their business by offering delivery and outside catering services, as we see the large major retailers move in to the area, taking trade away from these local shops.
A big increase has actually been seen in the catering industry also. Along with the booming wedding catering industry, with today's hectic lifestyles, we have seen a significant increase in the general catering services, offering catering for corporate events, dinner parties and so on.
One of the biggest increases is in fact the sandwich delivery services. Again, with today's hectic lifestyles and ever increasing working hours, we do not find the time to prepare lunch anymore. Sandwich shops have been quick to capitalize on this fact and want to jump on this opportunity that could bring them a lot of money. With a refrigerated vehicle, they are now delivering their sandwiches, snacks and prepared lunches around the local offices and business districts to deliver their products.
Refrigerated vehicle specialists offer bespoke conversions for all their customers’ needs; chilled, frozen, shelving systems for lunch time delivery vans to show all their products simultaneously. You can get chiller vans, freezer vans or used refrigerated vans from them.
Another important aspect to today business is brand awareness. Everything must look sleek, smart and modern for the consumer. Something that has not gone unnoticed by commercial vehicle and refrigeration manufactures. As well as performing efficiently, their vehicles must look the part. Gone are the days where a commercial vehicle is just a work horse; they are now modern in design and easy on the eye. It is amazing the number of customers who are looking for a refrigerated vehicle that will spend more time deciding on the look of vehicle they want, rather than its day to day practicality and use!
With the UK seeing increasing numbers of restaurants and general caterers, coupled with the fact that the majority of us struggle to find the time to cook for ourselves, one thing is for certain; refrigerated vehicles will continue to be an invaluable tool for all food companies, wholesalers and delivery firms!

Chiller Basics
A chiller is a
water-cooled air conditioning system that cools inside air, creating a more
comfortable and productive environment. Chillers are also used in the
manufacturing environment to provide "process" cooling to equipment
in an effort to maximize productivity.
With large
facilities, such as commercial buildings, hospitals, universities, government
facilities and theme parks, the cost of energy to generate cooling in excess of
50 tons is cost prohibitive with air-cooled units. Water-cooled chillers produce
higher tonnage at lower costs per ton, creating greater energy efficiency. A
typical home has 3-5 tons of cooling capacity.
How a Complete
Chiller System Works
Chillers circulate
chilled water to air-handlers in order to transfer heat from air to water. This
water then returns to the evaporator side of the chiller where the heat is
passed from the water to a liquid refrigerant (Freon). The refrigerant leaves
the evaporator as a cold vapor and enters the compressor where it is compressed
into a hot vapor. Upon leaving the compressor, the vapor enters the condenser
side of the chiller where heat is transferred from the refrigerant to the water
side of the condenser where it is circulated to an open cooling tower for the
final removal of heat via evaporation in the cooling tower.
What is Chiller
Efficiency?
Chiller efficiency
is the amount of energy (electricity) it takes to produce a "ton" of
cooling. It is expressed as kw/ton. All chillers have a designed kw/ton
efficiency that was established when the chiller was commissioned. Plant
design, water treatment, maintenance practices, chiller age, cooling tower
design, cooling load and plant operations dramatically effect chiller operating
efficiency and operating costs.
Chiller Operation,
Service and Maintenance
A chiller "operator" is known by several titles,
including Stationary Engineer, HVAC Engineer and Service Technician. Operation
and maintenance includes collecting and logging data from various gauges,
controls and meters located on or near the chiller. Service contractors, who
specialize in equipment repair, are contracted when major repairs or overhauls
are required.
There are
essentially three types of maintenance performed on chillers; water chemistry,
mechanical maintenance and operational procedures. Water chemistry is
maintained to keep proper balance and minimize the effects of scale, corrosion
and micro-biological / debris fouling. Mechanical maintenance includes proper
lubrication, adequate liquid refrigerant, oil levels and pump curve tests.
Operational procedures include eddy-current tests, oil analysis, calibration of
gauges and meters and other various tests.

How Freezer Work
Nearly every modern
American home has a freezer, most likely attached to a refrigerator. But why do
we freeze food? To store for
later the food we wouldn't be able to get to in a couple of days if we put it
in the refrigerator. So that huge pot of beef stew goes into the freezer,
alongside that revolutionary 20th century invention: the frozen dinner.
But the need to store food for later -- or to
create ice for keeping drinks cooled -- is far older than leftovers and TV dinners. It goes back about as far
as civilization itself. Thousands of years ago, ancient Mesopotamians
discovered that cold food rotted more slowly than food left outside. So, they
dug big pits into the ground, insulated them with straw or sand, and then
topped them with ice and snow from the nearest mountains. These pits, or ice
caves, were used to preserve the food for two or three weeks at a time.
Mesopotamians understood that warm air from outside could prevent the snow from
cooling the food, so the entrance was kept small and narrow to prevent air
seepage.
This was how food was preserved for centuries
until about the late 1600s, when England and France created their own version
with the invention of the ice house. Although
many were at least partially in the ground, some were designed as thatched roof
pits that could keep food cold or provide chipped ice for drinks and desserts
-- with the help of snow and ice brought in from lakes -- for about a year. The
process was similar to the ice cave, with an insulator such as sawdust or small
branches that was topped with snow and sawdust.
These eventually gave way to the creation of
the icebox, a small cabinet that had a compartment for holding a large block of
ice and another compartment for storing food. These were common until about the
1920s, when electric refrigerators and freezers began to make their debut.
By then, science and industry had established
the idea of mechanical refrigeration, in which a circulating chemical gas kept
things in a compartment cold. That's why today's mechanically circulated
vapor-driven freezers are a little more complicated (and efficient) than
hollowed-out ice caves filled up with mountain snow. Up next, we'll find out
how several scientific discoveries led up to the creation of the modern freezer
we use today.

Different Air Conditioning Requirements
A couple of centuries back there was no such concept of air conditioning because there were no modern methods introduced to carry out such complex processes. It took years of research and hard work with consistency to perform many processes to discover the exact process of air conditioning. Air conditioning is defined as the removal of heat and replacing it with cool air to maintain a constant temperature inside. Modern techniques and methods are helping a lot to improve the air conditioning standards. An air conditioner is a set of care fully assembled complex components which help to carry out the complete air conditioning process.
As the luxuries of man are increasing so are the air conditioning standards. The exact importance of the presence of an air conditioning system can be asked from a people who live in countries formed on deserts and one of the warmer parts of the world. It is the sun which is considered to be the main resource of light and heat energy for the growth of human body and agriculture but we cannot deny the fact that excess of heat a generated from the ultra violet rays of the sun has always proved to be harsh and dangerous. These harsh effects result in the dehydration and sun burns which can be fatal for any human being.
Different breeds of air conditioning systems have been introduced in the markets to meet different air conditioning requirements. These air conditioning systems vary in size and shape according to different air conditioning requirements. Many models and series of window air conditioning units, split air conditioning systems, multi split air conditioning systems, computer room air conditioning systems, central air conditioning systems, packaged air conditioning systems, chillers and high speed air conditioning system are available in the local and international markets. As the construction of huge multi story sky scrapers is being in fashion to provide more living and working space for people in big cities. Central air conditioning system has become famous for such air conditioning requirements.
The excessive use of carbon fuel burning vehicles has added a lot in the overall increase in the temperature of our planet. Thousands of industrial zones having hundreds of factories emitting carbon smokes and other non echo friendly gases is another cause in the increase in global warming and frequently increasing use of the air conditioning systems. To avoid such hazardous situations there are more echo friendly technologies being used in the modern air conditioning systems manufactured around the world to provide comfortable and healthy living environments for the consumers.
Air conditioning technology is the most reliable and dependable way of protecting our children from the harsh effects of heat. The increase of global warming has also a deep impact on the increasing use of the air conditioning systems. The rate air conditioning production is increasing with the fraction of every second all over the world. This is all because of the high demand levels of air conditioning. Air conditioning has become one of the major necessities of present life.

Is Your Air Conditioning Unit Noisy?
The
most popular type of air conditioning, other than central air, is a window air
conditioner. If your home is not equipped with central air conditioning
throughout the house, you can use a window air conditioner to cool the house.
Most people like using window air units over floor models because they do not
need to be moved from room to room and they don't take up space in the room.
One
thing about window air conditioners is that they are noisy. The noise level
depends on the type and size of the unit. Noise levels are usually given in
decibel ratings. The higher the decibel the louder the unit will be. For every
10 decibel increase the sound pressure increases by a factor of 10. For example
50 decibels is 10 times louder than 40 decibels and is 100 times louder than 30
decibels.
There
are many things that cause noise in air conditioning units. Some cannot be
helped. There is a compressor and fan in each unit which causes most noise.
Other causes could be maintenance issues such as worn bearings, dirty or rusty
fan blades and basic wear and tear. Besides basic wear and tear, your unit
could be noisy because it is vibrating because it is not installed correctly.
A unit
should not be unbearably noisy. If yours is, you should have it looked at by an
authorized service professional. There are some things that you can check on
for yourself. To stop some vibrating, try tightening the screws holding the
front panel onto the unit.
You
might have bent fan blades which would be causing your unit to make noise. It shouldn't
be too difficult to bend the blades back into place. Other place where you may
be getting some vibration noise is between the frame and the sash or the glass
and the frame. Check these out before you call in a service professional.
You can
find a wide range of single room air conditioners, both in style and price. You
should be able to find a window air conditioner for as little as $150 or as
much as several hundred. The more features it has, like double fans or a remote
control will increase the price.
Usually
the more expensive the unit, the more energy efficient it is. Air conditioner
units can use a lot of electricity. If you run the unit often, your electricity
bill will be higher. Therefore, if you get an energy efficient unit, you should
save in electric costs. The more efficient a unit is, the less energy it takes
to cool your home. Therefore, you will save on your energy costs.
Research
what type of unit will do the job for you and your home. Make sure you check
the amps for the unit you purchase. You don't want to overload your electrical
system.

What is an Air Conditioner and How Does it Work?
Before answering the question on 'what is an air conditioner' let me say that I will be dealing mainly with 'split air conditioners'. Splits consist of two principal parts, an indoor unit, and an outdoor unit. There are of course many other types, such as 'through the window' 'central air conditioners ' which involve the use of ducting, fully portable units, and so on, all of these have one thing in common they are all based on the 'refrigeration cycle' (explanation later) and use a refrigerant gas.
More so now than ever, air conditioners have come into their own, with the on-going threat of global warming. However, an air conditioner can do more than cooling your room or area, dual machines, can also supply heating, suitable to countries, or areas with mild winters. Additionally, air conditioners (as the name implies) perform another very import task, that of conditioning the air, by filtering out harmful particles such as, dust mites, pet dander, pollen, mold, bacteria, etc, all of which contribute to respiratory problems, especially those prone to asthma, or allergy attacks. The conditioner also removes excess humidity, adding to the comfort zone.
What an air conditioner does with regards to cooling an area or room, in simplistic terms, can be explained as follows, removal of unwanted heat in a room via a refrigerant gas and dumped outside to the atmosphere. So how does it do that! Well, let's start by taking a look at the outdoor unit, which consists of three main component parts, the compressor, the condenser, (which looks like the radiator of a car) and a fan motor.
The compressor compresses the returning gas vapor from the indoor unit, and passes it into the condenser, air is drawn by the fan motor across the condenser fins thus cooling the vapor allowing the heat to escape, the vapor condenses to a liquid, and the compressor then pumps the liquid via copper tubing towards the indoor unit, (evaporator) where the liquid expands from the small bore pipe into a much larger pipe bore, thus creating a pressure drop across the evaporator (which again looks like a radiator ) the liquid quickly evaporates to a vapor, which creates a freezing effect, and again a fan motor blows the cooled/ freezing air out into the area to be cooled.
The ''vapor'' is sucked back by the compressor to the outdoor unit, (condensing unit) where the whole process starts over again. So there you have it, this then is known as the ''refrigeration cycle'. It is worth bearing in mind, when choosing the exact location of the indoor unit, that a by-product of this activity is 'water' which must be piped either to an indoor drain, or to an outside drain or even a ''flower bed''. The amount of water, which is a result of the freezing effect is relatively small, and can be likened to a 'dripping faucet/tap.'
In summary, the benefits of air conditioning, are highly desirable, providing clean air for you and your family whilst at the same time creating a cool atmosphere in which to relax or work; very conducive to modern day living.

What to Store in Display Freezers?
Display freezers are truly versatile and can be used to enhance the marketability of any product. Glass top display freezers typically come in different colors. This allows businesses to coordinate the freezer with their product or with their store facade. Display freezers can also bare the logo and name of the business itself. Businesses can truly enhance the use of a display freezer by advertising with their logo while also displaying their product for sale.
One product that will be suited by a display freezer is fresh pet food. In today's society where consumers are interested in consuming only organically grown food, the concept is spilling over to the health of our pets as well. Recently, fresh pet food has made its way into our grocery stores and is quite popular among households. Display freezers that display pet food are located in the pet aisle of grocery stores. That is right; shoppers can buy fresh veggies and pick up fresh pet food in the same shopping trip. Display freezers are a great way to market a product in a store that typically would not attract the target customer but its presence certainly creates a convenience that customers yearn for.
Another product that is nicely displayed in display freezers is gelato. Yes, who has not seen the colorful display freezer with delicious gelato amidst a crowded mall? Ice-cold gelato is always a great way to sooth the hot and restless shopper after a long day of meandering through multiple department stores. Display freezers that accommodate gelato typically display the businesses name and logo on the front. This is an excellent feature because they typically do not have an actual storefront that can clearly display the business name. The display freezers are usually a bright and attractive color to grab the customer's attention. Display freezers in this sense, truly take on the identity of the business itself and serve as effective advertising while also selling the product. The snack bars at movie theaters are notorious for offering just about any snack that customers will ever crave. Typically, the offer pretzels, nachos, coffee beverages, ices, and of course, ice cream. Movie theaters are extra busy during the summer months. Hot new releases as well as summer vacations, both contribute to the increase in business. With that said, ice cream is a popular snack during these hot summer months. Movie theaters often store a variety of ice cream novelties in several display freezers behind the counter of their snack bars. The Advantage of Display Chillers
The display chiller is not the normal refrigerators that we use at home, and these types of chillers you will have seen at a meat restaurant or even at confectionaries and many departmental stores. Basically, the display chiller falls into the class of the commercially used refrigerators. The most important purpose of such display chillers are for purchasers to test the contents of the chiller and take their pick. Display chiller can keep the food from being spoilt.
So as you can determine, the display chiller is sort of totally different from the standard refrigerators that we use at home. Although the first image that appear in mind when you think of a refrigerator is that the one you use at home, however if you have recently opened up a general store or restaurant where you wish to store a lots of food you wish to think an normal home refrigerator. There are separate set of requirements where it comes to business product even if they're food and how they should be stored. Therefore, although a display chiller may look to be most straightforward, they are essentially designed to be a commercial freezer.
As mentioned before, the main purpose of a display chiller is to allow customers to be in a position to view the contents of the chiller while not having to open the door. But there are various different designs and styles of a display chiller that you can buy, for instance there do have those don't have a door. This method all the contents can simply be seen at all times and can conjointly be easily reached. But no matter what design of a display chiller you're trying for, the freezer manufacturer is who you'll would like to get in touch with thus that you're provided with the business refrigeration remedies that you are trying for.
A freezer manufacturer is the person or the company that you would like to contact so as to get yourself the most suitable quality chillers and freezers for your commercial establishment. Sometimes, in most such small businesses there is a requirement of more than simply one display chiller or any suitable freezer.
This is often the purpose why a freezer manufacturer comes in very handy to assist you out with your immediate and future refrigeration needs. You can search online for numerous freezer supplier companies. But, where such a product is concerned, it is typically better that you simply search for a freezer manufacturer who is located more near to home, thus that the deliveries can all be made simple and on time. Online, you will surely realize numerous such freezer suppliers in your vicinity that you'll be able to contact and order your very own display chiller.

4 Reasons Why Display Freezers Are Great
Display freezers are convenient, customizable, efficient, and cost-effective. Businesses may benefit greatly by utilizing these versatile marketing tools. Commercial catering equipment is equally beneficial. Commercial catering equipment is virtually maintenance free and has long-term utilization expectancy. Listed below are four reasons why display freezers can benefit any business.
Display freezers are convenient for the customer in that they can be placed in easy- to- reach locations throughout the store or business that it is being used in. In any business setting, store employees can simply direct a customer to a display freezer and the customer has easy access to obtain the contents. Display freezers can be placed in virtually any space that one desires.
Display freezers are customizable to suit the business' needs. A display freezer can be purchased in different colors. A display freezer can be ordered with the business' logo and name on it as well. The ability to have a display freezer customized is extremely beneficial. The ability to advertise on a display freezer is detrimental to a business that does not have a storefront. For example, a gelato shop that is setup in an open-air setting inside of a mall does not have a storefront to advertise their business name or to enhance their visibility. By advertising on the display freezer, the business accomplishes two objectives by merely utilizing the display freezer.
Display freezers are truly efficient. They come in numerous shapes and sizes. If a movie theater needs to display an inventory of 50 ice cream bars, they can easily purchase a small compact display freezer that may be placed on a counter top. This saves space and money. Conversely, if a small neighborhood market only has space for one display freezer, they can simply purchase a full size display freezer and display several types of products within it. This will save them money on buying a second display freezer as well allowing them to utilize their limited space efficiently.
Display freezers are cost-effective. When weighing the expenses of a display freezer against the revenue generated from it, one can realize the cost effectiveness. Considering the lifespan of a display freezer, one can see that it can be utilized to market products for a long period. Typically, maintenance on display freezers is minimal. Products will be marketed in the display freezer every day. If positioned strategically within the store, the display freezer is likely to increase sales of the product. Also, consider that a business is free to change the inventory in the display freezer at any time. For example, if a business receives a limited edition high dollar product, they may easily realize a large profit by temporarily displaying a product with a high profit margin in the display freezer.
Coolaire Consolidated’s refrigerated display freezers are made for tropical environments such as that of the Philippines, with all-stainless steel cases and glass doors and windows. With ranges from half-door, full-door, to counter top variants, they are made for a wide array of requirements such as chiller, freezer, top-freezer/bottom-chiller, blast freezer and blast chiller. Buying an air-conditioner
As
mercury levels rise, air conditioners
come as a blessing: they help you beat the heat. With so much advertising from
various AC manufacturers on features, consumers today are a confused lot. Let
us understand some of the basic features of an AC so that you are able to buy
an energy efficient AC.
Air-conditioning or cooling is more complicated than heating.
Instead of using energy to create heat, ACs use energy to take heat away. The
most common air-conditioning system uses a compressor cycle (similar to the one
used by your refrigerator) to transfer heat from your house to the outdoors.
How is
this done? A compressor is filled with a special fluid called a refrigerant
(usually one of the environmentally notorious chlorofluorocarbons). One of this
chemical's properties is that it can change back and forth between liquid and
gas. As it changes, it absorbs or releases heat.
Thus, it is used to "carry" heat from one place to
another, such as from the inside of a refrigerator to the outside, or, in an
air conditioner, from the inside of a house to the outside. An air conditioner
takes heat from a cooler place and dumps it in a warmer place, seemingly
working against the laws of physics. What drives the process, of course, is
electricity—quite a lot of it, in fact.
Human comfort
In looking at how air-conditioning costs can be reduced, it
helps to understand how temperature affects human comfort. The standard human
comfort range for light clothing in the summer is between 72 degrees Fahrenheit
and 78 degrees Fahrenheit and between 35% and 60% relative humidity, according
to the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration, and Air- Conditioning
Engineers (ASHRAE).
The comfort range can be extended to 82 degrees F with modest
air movement, as might be provided by ceiling fans, for example. Often, the
house can be kept within this range using little or no mechanical
air-conditioning.

The Value of the Refrigerated Truck in Food Transport
A refrigerated truck can offer transportation for any products that must stay cold while they travel from beginning to ending destinations. These types of commercial trucks may be rented or purchased, and they’re available all around the country. These types of trucks are usually large, at least a ton, and contain a refrigerated unit included, either built directly into the truck, or connected as a trailer. The refrigeration emanates from diesel power using generators and liquid co2. These trucks can look like your typical neighborhood ice cream truck, or an enormous tractor trailer rumbling down the highway.
Refrigeration is a benefit the present day world has grown used to. Refrigerators and freezers are used in private residences and also for commercial purposes. The availability of air conditioning is taken for granted in homes, automobiles and businesses in almost all of the developed world. Business and comfort rely on the means to keep heat from ruining materials and food.
Keeping meat and dairy items in a temperature-controlled atmosphere has come to be a critical standard for health and safety. A refrigerated truck is an absolute requirement to keep food fresh while it’s transported from the place of growth to the area of sale and into the kitchens of houses, restaurants and organizations around the world.
Various items have to be transported at specific temperatures or with the intent of repelling heat. Temperature protection has grown scientific and innovative. Anything perishable can be kept refrigerated when it travels. This covers food, pharmaceuticals as well as other medical supplies (sometimes even blood and body organs!), flowers or plants. All of these temperature-sensitive products may be transferred in a protective environment that helps ensure they show up just as fresh as if they had not traveled at all.
A refrigerated truck is typically equipped with equipment which will ensure a constant cold temperature while controlling emissions and reducing the environmental effect. Trucks have an engine, an evaporator, a condenser and also a compressor.
A large number of trucks must “pre-cool” well before the cargo is loaded and shipped. Think of it as pre-heating your oven. This makes sure the temperature is stable and accurate before the real job of transporting the goods and continuing to keep them cold is attempted.
These kinds of vehicles are equipped with a warning system that lets the operator know in the event that the temperature gets unstable. Measures may be taken in transport to correct any kind of temperature variations that might endanger the products in the truck.
Continuing to keep cargo cold while it is being transported for commercial purposes has become absolutely essential. Refrigerated trucks help make this process possible, and even easy. These trucks are responsible for transporting cold items that can’t be found locally.

How do I Choose Best Refrigerated Truck Companies?
There are a number of factors you should consider when seeking the best refrigerated trucking companies. While at a glance, each of them may appear to be nearly identical, there are actually many types of refrigerated trucking companies that specialize in a number of different industries. Each of them will ensure that the products being carried will remain at a constant temperature, but from there, the services offered can greatly vary from one company to the next. When seeking the best refrigerated trucking company, it is essential to negotiate terms like what services will be available, the flexibility within the delivery schedule, and the overall cost of conducting business. Another crucial aspect to consider is the refrigerated trucking companies overall track record with customer service and correcting problems when they occur.
Of course, price is always a major concern in any business, and many refrigerated trucking companies will go out of their way to introduce hidden costs and expenses that were not discussed beforehand. For example, many freight lines require the truck driver to unload the delivered cargo personally, and a hefty charge is added regardless of whether or not this actually takes place. If the cargo is being delivered to a fully staffed warehouse, then it is senseless to pay this additional cost. Other miscellaneous expenses that seem to pop up within refrigerated trucking companies are overnight waiting fees, hitch and unhitch costs, and multiple stop expenses. Each of these should be negotiated beforehand so there is no confusion after the products have actually been delivered.
Other refrigerated trucking companies do not like to deal with the cargo at all, and their drivers are instructed to simply drive to the destination and wait for the shipment to be unloaded. If there are multiple stops being made and the driver waits several hours at each of them, it can easily delay a routine schedule by several days. This may not be a major concern for an occasional delivery, but vendors that hire refrigerated trucking companies to constantly deliver products could experience serious problems in maintaining inventory.
Possibly the largest factor in choosing the best refrigerated trucking companies is to look at their overall customer satisfaction, because problems occur every day for small businesses. If a business were to run out of product due to a sudden increase in sales, for example, and the next delivery was not scheduled to arrive for several more days, not all refrigerated trucking companies would ensure that the problem is rectified. For this reason alone, it is vital to choose refrigerated trucking companies that have solid customer service records and the ability to handle emergency shipments when it is required.

What are the Different Types of Restaurant Refrigeration?
Restaurant kitchens contain a wide variety of types of refrigeration that can depend on the size of the kitchen, and the types of food served at the particular establishment. Since restaurants typically store many types of prepared food and ingredients in bulk, as well as beverage dispensers, they often have different sized cooling systems that are designed to hold specific items. The size of the ingredients, whether they are already chopped or otherwise prepared, and if they need to be displayed to the customers, will affect the type of restaurant refrigeration that is required.
One of the most common types of restaurant refrigeration is the reach-in refrigerator. This type of refrigerator is similar to a basic home refrigerator and contains two to three shelves in the center, as well as storage shelves inside the door. Reach-in refrigerators are often used in smaller restaurants that don’t hold a large surplus of ingredients. Larger restaurants will generally have walk-in refrigerators, in which the refrigerator is a small enclosed room that can store items in bulk.
An air curtain is a tall, narrow cooling unit that holds several thinly spaced shelves. It contains a fan system that blows cold air around and completely covers the food with cold air at all angles. This variety of restaurant refrigeration is often utilized for trays of food items that are prepared early and will be cooked at a later time, such as small appetizers, stuffed meats, or filled pastries. An air curtain may also be used to keep unbaked bread loaves or other types of dough cool until they need to be heated.
Some restaurants keep certain items, such as prepared desserts and sandwiches, on display near the entrance or waiting area as a way to entice customers and to show off any special items. These display cases, typically referred to as bakery or deli cases, are usually made of glass and have two to three metal shelves, along with a sliding door behind the unit so a server can easily access items. They contain a cooling unit to keep items fresh while they are being exhibited.
Ingredient stations are a type of restaurant refrigeration generally implemented by restaurants that serve pizza, cold sandwiches, and salads. These stations are flat counters with glass front coverings. The counters contain individual sections that keep different ingredients separated, while cooling them all at the same time. The ingredients are already chopped, shredded or otherwise prepared, which makes putting together the desired ingredients more efficient.
Restaurants generally keep a separate refrigeration unit on hand to cool beverages, known as beverage dispensers. These units have individual sections that hold different sodas, juices, beer, or other beverages, along with a nozzle that releases the drinks from the dispenser. Restaurants that serve wine, champagne, or hard alcohol will often have a separate refrigerator unit to store whole bottles since customers may order whole bottles or their drinks may be poured directly from the bottle at the table.

Choosing between Refrigerated Vans, Trucks and Reefer Trailers
Refrigerated vans are not only a very effective way to transport products, but also a nice mode to start a lucrative business. Either way, you should learn more about these vans and our article tries to do exactly that. It will help you better understand how they can help people, who much the investment is going to add up to, so you can better decide if these vans suits you.
You should know for the very beginning that buying refrigerated vans will cost you a lot, and the prices range between $38,000 and $78,000. These values are for new vans, but it’s pretty much the only choice you’ve got, if you want to make sure you get a quality product. By purchasing a used van, you risk a lot and on the long run, the money saved here will be lost on repairs and other nuisances.
Refrigerated trucks are very large trucks, and if you’re just starting out and you don’t know how well your business is going to do, it would be better to invest in a small trailer, such as a reefer trailer. Much cheaper than a regular truck, this trailer also has the advantage of being cheaper to insure. This will keep you initial investment to a minimum, while you see how things go.
Reefer trailers are not difficult to find if you want to purchase one, but choosing one is a bit of a challenge. Positive testimonials and low energy consumption are two of the things you should be looking for, when buying or renting such a van. If you are pointed into the right direction, you’ll have no problem in finding the right prices to either rent or buy such vehicles.
Another advantage that reefer trailers have is the fact that they can be easily detached from the main vehicle and that vehicle will be able to perform other tasks. So simply tow the trailer to its destination, leave it there, do your business, and then come back to get it! When your business is just starting out, and you need your vehicles in different places during the day, there’s nothing better than being able to do so!
A refrigerated van on the other hand offers much more space. However, do you really need all that space? You may not need all of it, and you may not use it, but you’re certainly paying for it. If you know that you won’t have items to take up all the space, and you think this won’t change in the near future, then there’s no point in investing in a large van.
Deciding between a refrigerated truck and a reefer trailer is a very important decision and once it is made it will have a major impact on your business. If you need the additional space than a truck is the best choice, while if you need the resources for something else, go for the latter with no hesitations.
